About

I understand that OCD creates unwanted thoughts that can make you feel ashamed or scared to have them, let alone share them. The impact OCD has on daily life is so negative that it can ruin relationships and make you isolated from life. ERP allows me to get creative to find exposures that will help you depend less on compulsions. I'll use this powerful therapy technique to guide you away from OCD. I've dealt with a large number of OCD-related cases, so there's nothing I haven't heard before. Members say that I'm warm and easy to talk to, with a good sense of hum that can help break tension during sessions. I'm also a certified trainer for Mindful Self-Compassion workshops in San Diego. You'll find me to be a great partner as you take this journey to overcome your OCD.

Dr Curry is great - kind funny but holds me accountable. Also she doesn’t just do ERP all session we talk about how I’m feeling and she suggests other things I can do to feel better

It is so vital to have my psychologist be direct in her communication with me and be willing to find alternative paths to success that feel doable when I get stuck.

My progress has been slowed down by the life transition to retirement and the process of doing paperwork to get Medicare and other benefits. My stress level has been high and my obsessive thoughts lead me to cruise Amazon. I am resisting more purchases than not but it is hard. All in all I believe I am moving in a positive direction even when I feel stuck.

I have been going through a very stressful life transition to retirement and have backslid with my compulsive online spending to bind my anxiety. At the same time I have been meeting goals re: Required paperwork. I intend to get back my focus on the hoarding on hand to allow for taking graphics online as a reward. Dr. Elise has a way of instilling hope when I am feeling discouraged.

Dr. Elise informed me that we would try a different way of structuring sessions to increase my mastery of decluttering. I am willing to try as I get side-tracked thus avoiding cleaning up. I do feel renewed hope that I can get my place under control.

We went over my scales and while some things improved others did not. Reviewed and updated my tasks for while she will be on vacation and who I can call for support if needed before her return. I felt cared for and more focused.

Dr. Elise and I made a list of tasks/goals to complete while she is on vacation. And also accomplished things I’ve achieved. We have another session before her trip so we can review and update the list. It feels great to have her support during the process of “growing”!

I am extremely impressed with Dr. Curry’s ability to keep my trauma history in mind without letting me digress. She’s quite insightful, unafraid to challenge me, and great at specific complements and encouragements about where I’m making progress - huge motivational help for an OCDer with avoidance compulsions.
