About

Before working with NOCD, I treated people at an outpatient mental health clinic for many mental health issues, including OCD. I also worked at a non-profit organization offering assistance to those in need. Helping people achieve their goals and get better is part of my journey. I know you may be feeling scared or apprehensive, but I know we can work together to tackle your fears and teach you how to manage them. I also have experience as a client of therapy, so I know exactly what it feels like to be on the other side of treatment. You’ll find me to be a great listener, fully engaged with a calming presence. I’m driven to produce results, and using ERP allows me to get those results for you. Let’s work together to put your OCD troubles behind you.

This was super helpful as a mom who has a son with OCD. Hearing about all of the OCDs helped with perspective and I am hoping will give my son some encouragement. Lauren was approachable. She was understanding. She was kind. I do think my own research of OCD was helpful going in. This is scary for everyone involved. My hope is that my son will do this so he can get his life back. Thank you Lauren! 🩷🩷

Always amazing therapists. I’ve been too lazy to give feedback but seriously my therapist is the best I’ve ever had. Each session she is 5/5 stars.

First point is that we stopped because Nat went to camp for a month and we were having a hard time getting her to come to her sessions (and ended up paying $400 for missed sessions). We would like to pick back up when she returns. That said, we will be requesting a different therapist. The main challenge we had is that our therapist tried too hard to get Nat to declare that certain normal behaviors were actually a manifestation of her OCD. A recent example of this was when Nat said she had some concerns about getting sick prior to a trip to Africa. Her therapist suggested this was irrational and should be one focus of treatment whereas Nat suggested that her concerns were normal. What was more concerning about this particular interaction, however, was Nat’s feeling that the therapist was implying that she was bigoted for thinking that her risk of catching a disease was greater in Africa than in the U.S. Of course, it is far, far greater in Africa - which is why we have to get special innoculations, can’t drink the water (even locals drink the water only sparingly) and have to be very careful with the food we eat there. I say this as someone who has worked for years in South Africa, Rwanda, Uganda, Tanzania, Ghana, Ethiopia, Nigeria, and Republic of Congo, and works with the ministries of health in each of those countries as well as others. I personally know people who have returned with intractable diseases and parasitic infections that alter life permanently. It is accepted fact that when people travel to different places, they usually do not have the immunity built up to the local pathogens. It is also true that sanitation and food safety in Africa are nowhere near where they are in the West. Anyone who has traveled knows this and its not a sign of prejudice to act accordingly or to openly state such things. Yet Nat felt as though she were being accused of either being ignorant, bigoted, or that she was lying about this being a source of her anxiety. None of those things were the case. Naturally, this made Nat very uncomfortable as you can imagine, particularly the implication that she was being small minded and bigoted. It’s possible this is why I couldn’t get her to attend her last two sessions. Either way, we still have confidence in the NOCD approach and we don’t want to give up. Sometimes it just takes awhile to find a therapist you click with. We hope we can find another NOCD therapist sometime in August.

at first, the standard questions, rubbed me wrong.... and then I came to the realization that those questions were meant to give background. And Lauren was able to recognize another problem and that was really good news.

Lauren was able to help me see things I couldn’t see before, her insights have been so incredibly valuable in my journey towards managing my OCD (and so many other aspects in my life). I feel guided and supported more than I ever have before. Lauren is honest, says the hard things that need to be heard, but they are said with nothing but kindness and a genuine desire to see improvement and greater quality of life in her patients.
