About

I hold a deep passion for helping people better their lives for the future. I also know what receiving guidance is like, as I have my own experience of seeking and getting effective treatment. It’s important to me that the treatment I provide you with is evidence-based with proven results. The great thing about ERP is that it offers both, with many members seeing improvement in just a few sessions. I’m a great listener, and by providing you with a safe space, you can find great success with ERP. Members describe me as understanding and caring. You can share your OCD experiences and I will never judge you, and nothing you will say can shock me. I’m invested in getting you results you can see and feel, so you can get your life back.

I completely understand that it may be difficult to share your innermost thoughts and fears with someone else who's a stranger to you. But there is no judgment. This is a safe place.

Get to know Judith Steverson

I suffered from trauma, and that made me more sensitive to people who were suffering from similar issues. I decided to become a therapist because of that time when I was younger, going through those same struggles. I also have family members who have mental health issues - some that weren't diagnosed.

I was mainly drawn to helping people with OCD because of the trauma that I experienced earlier in life. I've been able to overcome a lot of my own personal mental health issues related to trauma, but I still deal with them. Fear is a huge one, which is also a big factor for people with OCD that I can relate to personally. I get a lot of personal satisfaction from helping people heal from their fears and be successful. Additionally, the basis for the majority of my clinical work has been CBT, or cognitive behavioral therapy – and the treatment for OCD is ERP, which comes from the CBT family.

I've worked with a lot of different people from many different backgrounds and cultures, and I've worked with adults, adolescents, and children. I've assisted them with depression, anxiety, ADHD, trauma, and grief.

Any therapy is a lot of hard work. NOCD is no different than any other therapy in that way. If you want to get better, you have to do that hard work. It's not easy, because no therapy is easy – but it’s extremely worth it. Sometimes the first session can be especially difficult, but I put myself in your shoes and try to look at things from your standpoint: You're telling your thoughts and fears to a stranger. I will take the time to create a good connection with you. You should also know that ERP has been tested, and it's empirically sound. People react differently to different therapies, but most people who go through ERP experience a decrease in symptoms.

I completely understand. It's difficult to share those innermost thoughts and fears with someone else who's a stranger to you. But there is no judgment. This is a safe place. After a couple of sessions, if you feel like you still can't share your thoughts with me, we'll find some way to get through that. For example, you can put them down in a journal, and I can see them that way. Or while we're doing our session, you could put the information in the Zoom chat. We’ll find a method that works together.

Judith is amazing, I worked with her until I moved out of the state and I was devastated I couldn’t work with her anymore! She is easy to talk to, caring, and so helpful. She helped me with my OCD as well as other mental health issues related to it.

Judith has guided me through ERP very well and I feel that I am nearly ready to “be my own therapist” which is the goal! She’s not afraid to tackle very tough subjects. ERP is uncomfortable but that’s the whole point. When I started, I could barely even say/hear a triggering word without freaking out and now I’m looking at actual pictures of trauma and able to handle it. I would’ve thought this was impossible a few months ago. The process works and Judith will help you through it if you stay open minded and brave enough to face your fears and discomfort.

His therapist is supportive, loving, patient kind. Always asking if it’s okay with him. We ate off to a good start

My experience was helpful, and definitely introduced knew ways for me to understand my behavior. The therapy would be much better without the therapist typing and going through a list of questions. I repeated myself several times because the therapist was typing. The questions were repetitive even though I initially verbalized that was not a harm to myself. I understand the need for a paper trail, but that trail disconnects the therapist from the client. The therapist was helpful, but just fell victim to the insurance company requirements or legal requirements.

My therapist changed my life! I feel like what has made this so much different than any other therapy I have tried is that Ms. Judith actually taught me how to manage my condition. She knew what she was doing and was consistent. She constantly gave me new information, education, and tools. She held me accountable and worked with me. I do not think I would be where I am today without her, and that's not to say that I was made reliant on her (like many therapists tend to do with OCD patients), but she made me independent again. Not only from OCD, and therapists, but from the reassurance I had to compulsively seek or the depression that made me feel incapable. She is truly a gift to people with my condition.

I’ve been working with Judy since August and at this point I’m doing super well following her homework and how to respond to the ocd. I’m learning how to be my own therapist :) She’s shown me how to gain confidence and believe in myself and let me rule my life vs ocd deciding how I should live my life. She’s simply the best!

This program/app has been vital in my recovery. The work you put is the “ Proof in the Pudding” . I recommend everyone here to acknowledge that the work will be hard but there is light at the end of this journey. Stay vigilant

Judy is great! I feel like she really listens to my concerns, sets up good exposures, and I always learn something new about ocd in session. I always feel like I’m actively working on my issues with her.

In our first appointment, my daughter’s therapist was compassionate and easy to talk to. I shared a lot of complex medical and mental health history with her, and she listened attentively and kept track of it all. The session was well organized and focused, and left me feeling hopeful.

My progress has not been linear but I’m almost recovered ! I have days, weeks that I don’t notice I have ocd. When ocd do occur It occurs for short time , in those moments I sit and let whatever thought pass . I still do erp when needed

First ERP today. I felt like Judith was good at asking questions about how I felt. What ERP I could handle. I'm nervous but optimistic about treatment.

My therapist is great, helped with routine maintenance and gave new erp suggestions. It’s been 4-5 months working with her , I can say with her help a lot of my ocd symptoms have drastically reduced ! I still have moments of uncertainty but I know it’s only ocd .

anonymous

Apr 13, 2022

It’s maintenance work at this point. I can confidently say I’m better , if the other therapist are like mine you’ll be better with due diligence and the effort you put in with the erp homework. I am on zero medication

A short but effective session. Focused/Zonned into some of my safety habits/compulsions . Working towards leaning into my erp when I feel stress/pressure. I know I’ll be a stronger person once I complete my hierarchy plan .

Judith is very caring, knowledgeable and professional. I feel confident in her abilities to help me navigate this course

anonymous

Feb 23, 2022

My sessions went from 1 hr a week to now 30 minutes every two weeks! Progress was not linear and I’m still not 100 percent. What I can tell you is that eventually you’ll find good days where you will feel like yourself before ocd . Keep striving even when it’s hopeless . You’ll find out it’s actually not

anonymous

Feb 17, 2022

My therapist was very nice, understanding, and I feel that she will help me get through this.

anonymous

Feb 09, 2022

The change from the very beginning to now , has been noticeable. First let me be clear; you will only get what you put in . Compulsions are your enemy and erp is the key to beating those compulsions! The more you do your erp/homework , the more you’ll notice how whatever theme you have is not you/core values ! Listen to your therapist

Feb 02, 2022

Judith Steverson, my therapist, is a genuinely caring and knowledgeable person. We had an excellent session today as I inch my way into ERP! I was ready to give up on everything a week ago and she guided me into believing I can work this.

anonymous

Feb 02, 2022

Getting the correct help is vital and I see improvement thanks to my therapist. I also like many of the people here thought it couldn’t get better , but it can . Please do your erp and stop looking for reassurance. Thanks in advance to my therapist for the tools and the tough homework to beat this

anonymous

Jan 26, 2022

After going over some of my fears and hearing myself say them out loud to a professional. I realize how my thinking really was incorrect, erp really does help if you stick to it . Yes I have bad days but therapist makes fade away .

Jan 20, 2022

Another great session , could tell that I’m getting better . Still have my moments but I’m not triggered as much !

I really enjoy that Judith is so on top of my OCD wayyyyy more than I thought I was. She notices things about my mental compulsions and points things out that only someone who really understands OCD could ever point out. Judith is extremely helpful, and I'm extremely confident in her abilities as an OCD therapist. Thorough is what I would call her.
