She/Her
Licensed Therapist, LISW-S
I am an empathetic and non-judgmental therapist. I have experience working with many conditions, including relationship concerns. I work frequently with the LGBTQ+ community and identify as LGBTQ+ myself. My favorite fun fact about myself is that in 2014, I climbed to base camp on the Tibetan side of Mount Everest, at an elevation of 19,000 feet. It was really awesome.

There is nothing to judge about obsessions or compulsions. Having a cold doesn't define who you are as a person. OCD doesn't either. They are just conditions to be treated.
The usual reason: I just really wanted to help people. I'm good at listening. That's something I've gotten a lot of feedback about my whole life, even back in grade school. I also love neuroscience, the study of the mind and how the mind relates to the complete picture of health. I take a holistic approach to therapy.
There is such a need. General therapists (like I used to be) are just not trained in how to treat OCD. Graduate programs, at least in social work, teach you how to work as a generalist. There's not a lot of focus on specific treatments like ERP for OCD.
I have experience with many other conditions, including anxiety, depression, bipolar, codependency, and personality disorders. Codependency and narcissism are specialty fields of mine. I have frequently worked with the Amish and the LGBTQ community. I identify as LGBTQ myself.
Think about if you can make the commitment to getting better. To see progress, you really have to commit to homework daily, sometimes throughout the day, and to come into sessions having done that homework. This is a really prescriptive type of treatment, and it requires a lot of work on the part of the member.
Tell me! There is nothing to judge about obsessions or compulsions. Having a cold doesn't define who you are as a person. OCD doesn't either. They are just conditions to be treated.
