She/Her
Licensed Therapist, LMHC
With OCD, it can take a long time to get that correct treatment—you may have gone from therapist to therapist not really getting exactly what you need. I like to educate people I'm working with on that diagnosis and what that means for treatment. There is hope. There is an effective treatment for OCD, and there are a lot of things we can work on. Outside of work, I have three kids, and like to run. It's how I keep myself physically and mentally healthy.

I know that seeking treatment for OCD and sharing your thoughts with someone new can be scary, especially if this is the first time you've pursued OCD therapy. We will go at your own pace. Know that this is a safe space.
I started out wanting to be a teacher, and as I went through school for that, it didn't quite fit. The more I studied education, the more I focused on mental health, and that's really where it felt like it fit for me. I've dealt with anxiety myself, and it made me want to be a better advocate for people, and to seek out additional training in CBT and ERP, to provide services that are lacking.
I've worked with a couple of patients with OCD in the past. Once they felt that I understood what they were going through—that it wasn't just generalized anxiety or major depressive disorder, that it was OCD—it was like a light bulb clicked for them and for me too. That sense of understanding gave us a path to what they needed to work on and the strategies that we could start using. I like that process.
I mostly see patients with anxiety and depression, and I've worked with adults with brain injuries.
You have the ability to make these changes. This is a very collaborative approach. I'm here to give you the skills that you need to practice in your daily life, and to guide you along the way. But we will work together.
You can completely share at your own pace. I recognize that with OCD there are a lot of thoughts and images and intrusive thoughts and feelings that can be scary to share with someone, especially someone new, and especially this is the first time you've pursued OCD treatment. Just go at your own pace and share what you're comfortable with. Know that this is a safe space.
