About

My approach to therapy is authentic and compassionate. I understand that intrusive thoughts can be scary. Sometimes you might feel embarrassed when discussing them. I want you to feel comfortable during our therapy session; it's a safe place to discuss your OCD symptoms. As an individual and a therapist, I am a big advocate for self-care. Outside of work, I enjoy strength training, running, and playing basketball and golf. I also love spending time with my family and two small puppies, reading my Kindle outdoors, and working on mindfulness.

Get to know Cody Fournier

Growing up near a community with a high prevalence of mental illness and substance abuse, I knew that I wanted to help others from a young age. I noticed many individuals didn't have access to adequate mental health treatment. I wanted to help others access the right treatment and to instill hope that effective treatment exists. When I saw firsthand how a therapist can truly impact a client, I knew this was exactly what I wanted to do.

I know firsthand the impact OCD can have on an individual. I have received ERP therapy myself and know how effective this treatment modality is for OCD. I have seen the negative impact of ineffective treatment for OCD; I understand that it can dissuade people from getting back into treatment. I want to help people understand they can interrupt the OCD cycle, manage their symptoms, and live a life of fulfillment and happiness.

I have been in the mental health field for nine years, where I have worked in a variety of different clinical settings. I have worked in inpatient and outpatient facilities with clients who have dual diagnoses. I also have experience in private practice, working with children and adolescents with a history of trauma, and providing care management services to patients within a primary care setting.

First, I want to congratulate you on starting your treatment journey at NOCD. I understand firsthand that this is not an easy step to initiate. Life can get busy at times, and sometimes we put off treatment for a variety of reasons. There is no better time than now to start your treatment journey. Treatment may seem intimidating or scary, but I have faith that you're going to do great! I will be with you, every step of the way, to help guide you and teach you how to be your own ERP therapist outside of sessions. Even if you're not seeing results right away or get discouraged, I encourage you not to give up. You're a lot stronger than you think you are!

Most people experience intrusive thoughts, images, or urges from time to time. These thoughts can be labeled as “taboo” by those who don't have much experience with OCD or intrusive thoughts. I understand personally that these thoughts, images, and urges can seem scary. They become more sticky when we give them value. I want you to know that I will not judge or criticize you for having these thoughts. Instead, I will help you identify the thoughts, find ways to accept them, and manage your OCD symptoms.

Cody is the best therapist I have ever worked with. When I went to start NOCD I was skeptical because experiences with other providers often ended up with me felt worse. In just a couple months with Cody my whole life was turned around for the better. My friends and family have noticed the positive changes in me and we are all so grateful!

My therapist is incredibly knowledgeable, empathetic, and supportive. He has helped me in so many ways to understand my OCD and to tackle it with ERP. He communicates well in and out of sessions, and he has always made me feel comfortable. I would recommend NOCD to anyone struggling with OCD.
