About

People are dynamic and complex. I have a deep awareness and respect for what I don’t know, what I need to learn, and the many ways I can collaborate with a person in their OCD treatment. Outside of work, I love spending time with my husband of almost 21 years, our three rescue dogs, and our family. I love to be outdoors and in nature, hiking in the mountains or reading by the ocean. I am reteaching myself to play the piano. I enjoy doing yoga and making handmade gifts.

Get to know Christine Lustig Ortiz

When I was 13, my parents took me to see a therapist for challenges I was having. I was scared at first, but the therapist was patient and kind. They helped my family and me overcome those challenges. This, along with other factors, influenced my decision to become a therapist. I genuinely care about helping people learn about themselves and gain the tools to get well. Our mental and emotional health is so important. I'm honored to be part of that wellness community.

In years of practice as a therapist, I’ve seen that managing OCD is critical before you can work through other wellness goals. It's important to feel supported and empowered in managing your OCD. Once that happens, you can refocus on the most meaningful aspects of your life and relationships. It's amazing to see people feel relief, freedom, balance, and choice.

I provide trauma-informed care for people with PTSD, complex grief, anxiety, and depression. My clinical background prior to coming to NOCD includes helping those with eating disorders, substance misuse, and addiction. My therapy can include a whole-person approach, inviting the family or loved ones in to experience, to understand their roles, and to see how they can help.

At NOCD, we are truly a team, and we have a team approach. If I don’t have the answer, I will talk with other clinicians to find a thorough, detailed, and individualized plan for you. You will be actively involved in creating your treatment plan. You will be encouraged to use your voice, so I—and the whole team—can help you in the best ways we know how.

It’s normal to be afraid to share your deepest thoughts and feelings. You may never have voiced them to anyone before. That can be daunting. OCD is good at making people not want to talk about obsessions or compulsions. Shame, guilt, and fear don't have to belong to you anymore. Sharing your thoughts means you can begin to help yourself effectively manage OCD.
