Licensed Therapist, MA, LPC
My approach to treating OCD is collaborative, respectful, and light-hearted, while understanding how painful, and often devastating and disabling the symptoms are for the sufferer. Outside of work, I like to spend time with friends and family, enjoying food and music, and taking walks in nature with my two border collies, identifying plants, birds, and animals.

As a teacher, I wanted to help students with the deeper mental health problems I saw them struggling with during the school day. Later, as a community counselor, I went on to work with all age groups and problems.
My very first client had severe OCD, along with depression and social anxiety. She was able to detail her symptoms to me, and I became aware of how complicated, debilitating, and imprisoning OCD had become in her life. I wanted to help her and realized how little I knew. After doing some research, I found exposure and response prevention therapy. Since then, I've helped more clients learn to escape from their OCD struggles.
I've worked with anxiety, depression, social anxiety, anger, borderline personality traits, substance abuse, and trauma.
Therapists at NOCD are highly trained to understand and treat your particular set of OCD symptoms. They will collaborate with you to develop and follow a treatment plan which follows the protocols of the gold standard of OCD treatment, ERP, to alleviate those symptoms.
One in 40 people struggle with OCD. Realize that it's normal for many people with OCD to be frightened of the nature of their thoughts, which may seem 'weird', 'violent,' or 'sexually perverted.' People coming to NOCD may have shared their struggles in the past and been misinterpreted by people or therapists unfamiliar with OCD. This may have resulted in them being unfairly judged or even receiving inappropriate legal consequences. At NOCD, people are familiar with OCD. You will receive understanding, compassion, and empathy—no judgment or shocked expressions.
