About

We are all human. We all have struggles that have made us into the people we are today. My approach to treating OCD includes collaboration, family involvement, compassion, empathy, and a sense of humor. We interact with so many different personalities on a daily basis. Getting to know my members on a personal, more human level is a priority of mine. Outside of work, I have an orange cat named George and a small terrier mix named Dozer. I love all animals, listen to many varieties of music, and have an extensive movie quote memory (to which I may throw into session from time to time).

Get to know Brianne Birtic

I've always had a passion for mental health. Growing up, I played the role of the one people go to for advice; it just came naturally. As a freshman in high school, I knew I wanted to become a mental health therapist.

I started working with OCD in my first job at a residential OCD program. I knew it was exactly what I wanted to do moving forward. I've found there's a lack of education about anxiety disorders, specifically OCD. I enjoy educating members, families, and the general public about the complexities of OCD and how to work through it, assist your loved ones, and improve quality of life.

My main areas of focus are mood and anxiety disorders. I also have extensive experience with co-occurring disorders, substance use, DBT, CBT, psychoeducation, and biopsychosocial assessments. Have you ever heard that expression, “Everyone you know is fighting a battle you know nothing about?” I believe that to the fullest extent. Mental health disorders can be the silent catalyst to an unfulfilling and happy life. I have personal experience with anxiety disorders, mood disorders, and substance use, and I wanted to assist others who are struggling.

Exposure Response Prevention is challenging. It can be intimidating, frightening, and may even seem close to impossible. I take a gentle but firm approach to treating OCD. Always take credit for everything you thought you'd never be able to do. You're the one putting in the work; I’m merely there to guide and help you achieve your goals.

I believe in total transparency. The best way I can assist you in achieving your goals is by having you express your thoughts and feelings regarding the work we are doing together. I am all ears for any suggestions on how to make these sessions more comfortable (yet appropriately challenging) for you. As I get to know you, my hope is that we can speak openly and honestly about anything that is of concern to you.
