Kelly Schaffer

Licensed Therapist, MSW, LCSW

About

I take a supportive and sensitive approach to treating OCD. In therapy, we will use the number-one evidence-based treatment model utilized to treat OCD. I love seeing real change happen in people's lives. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time in nature—anything from being at the beach to hiking. Being outdoors brings me peace. I also love traveling to new areas, having new experiences, and trying different cuisines.

I wanted to enter a profession that gives you the space and opportunity to change people’s lives for the better. I wanted to be equipped to walk people through some of the most challenging moments of their lives.

I wanted to see real change happen in people’s lives by using an incredible evidence-based practice. Living with OCD can be debilitating, and I wanted to provide services that would provide hope and relief from these overwhelming symptoms.

I have experience working with individuals ranging from adolescents to geriatric. I have worked in community mental health, outpatient, partial care, and long-term care settings. I have experience working with individuals living with many diagnoses, including anxiety, mood disorders, dual diagnosis, schizophrenia, and neurological disorders including dementia. In addition, I'm passionate about advancing human rights. Throughout my career, I've worked with many justice-involved individuals facing homelessness. I'm also passionate about advancing LGBTQ+ rights and rights amongst minority groups.

It is completely normal to be nervous or have doubts about starting therapy. However, the therapists at NOCD are extremely knowledgeable and supportive and will be there through your journey. There may be moments when therapy can be challenging, but the outcome is worth it!

You are validated in having fears about sharing thoughts. We will work on building rapport and creating a safe space. It's OK to tell me if you're afraid to share.
