About

I do my best to create a non-judgmental, holding space that gives the member and me the opportunity to collaborate on facing triggers and delaying responses that normally keep people stuck in the OCD loop. Some of my favorite things to do outside of work are to read silly romance novels, play board games, and take vacations to the beach.

Get to know Joy Mikles

When I was just fresh out of college, I had two friends who passed away 6 months apart from each other. My friends and I were plunged into grief and spent so much time trying to navigate our way through life. We didn’t know what to do with ourselves, much less how to help each other. When I was a little older, I realized there wasn’t a person who would walk through life without experiencing some sort of deep hurt or pain, and I wanted to know how to help. I wanted to be a purveyor of hope. So I began my journey toward becoming a therapist.

OCD is a big, fat bully that keeps people from living the lives they want. It’s a smart disorder that takes the things, people, places, hopes, and wishes people love most away from them. I want to see people get their lives back and live the lives they want.

I work with couples and families to help them learn better ways to communicate, take ownership for their actions and feelings, and learn how to identify and correct negative beliefs and assumptions. I love watching people overcome their fears and doubts and gain the lives they long to live.

You are not alone. Starting NOCD Therapy is a big, brave step, and I will be with you as you take it. Together we will create steps to see your OCD decrease its hold on you.

Let me know if you’re afraid to share your thoughts, and we can go from there. I know it's hard to be vulnerable. If it’s helpful, remember that your thoughts are just that—thoughts. Thoughts do not harm others.
