About

As a career-changer from New York who's had a variety of experiences, I like to think I've seen it all and nothing shocks me. I want to assure anyone who comes to me seeking help that I will accept them without judgment. I will listen and offer unconditional support in our work together and will help OCD sufferers begin to break free of the unwanted thoughts and compulsions that have dominated their lives. Outside of work, you can often find me playing with my mini-schnauzer in my local park (you may see him in sessions sometimes), or in the kitchen, trying out new recipes. A fun fact about me: I have a culinary degree and have worked as a trained chef and baker.

Get to know Jonathan Schwartz

I know what it's like to struggle with mental health challenges and feel scared and alone. I was lucky to have caring and supportive people around me who got me the help I needed at an early age. I decided to go to graduate school for my master’s degree in social work to help others who are struggling.

OCD is a disorder that affects millions and is often misunderstood, minimized, and maligned. I want to help people better manage intrusive thoughts that cause distress, and free them from compulsive response behaviors that burden their lives. Unfortunately, there's a lack of trained professionals who can address the challenges of OCD. I want to help correct that by becoming a NOCD therapist.

While in graduate school, I completed an internship as a supportive counselor for gay men living with HIV. Additionally, I interned at a law firm specializing in disability and health justice, working to obtain essential services and provide counseling for asylum seekers and refugees. Additionally, I have experience in grief counseling, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), solution-focused therapy, and internal family systems therapy.

Change is hard. Growth is hard. Unlearning the dictates of compulsions and obsessive thinking will be challenging. But I will be there with you every step of the way, offering encouragement and constant support as you learn to break free from OCD and begin to live your best, most authentic life.

As in any good working relationship, the building of trust and open communication in therapy takes time. Know that as your NOCD therapist, I am here for you—without judgment or fear of anything you want to share. We can take things at your pace. Know that I am here to listen and to support you in your journey toward a better life.
