About

OCD can be incredibly isolating. Intrusive thoughts and compulsive behaviors often make us feel separate from others. My primary goal, apart from helping individuals learn to manage their symptoms, is to normalize the experience. Knowing there's an answer is incredibly comforting. Outside of work, I love foxes and dogs. In training my four pups, I've learned more about myself and the meaning of patience, love, and kindness than I ever thought possible. My favorite color is orange, and I love horror movies and novels. I also really like to run.

Get to know Kelly Sheets

As a kid, I loved puzzles, repetition, and patterns. As I grew older, I recognized that humans have the same patterns, whether physiological or psychological. That's what allows us to study behaviors. We are all unique individuals, but we have similarities in behaviors, emotions, and thoughts that provide insight into our lives. Becoming a therapist enabled me to learn more about how similar yet different we all are, and how absolutely important it is to the world. I want to help people organize the pieces of their proverbial puzzle and create a life they aren't afraid to live. We all deserve to be understood.

When I was younger, I knew something was different about me. I had rituals and fixations that I couldn't explain. Intrusive thoughts seemed to hijack my brain. At 18, it became overwhelming, but no one thought to screen me for OCD. I started doing research and diagnosed myself well before receiving a clinical diagnosis. I don't want other people who experience OCD to go through the same journey. I chose to specialize in OCD to help people realize they aren't broken and find answers and solutions in a timely, compassionate manner.

I have extensive knowledge about and experience in PTSD and trauma. My background includes active duty military, veterans, and survivors of domestic violence and other traumatic events. I also have a substantial background in working with people experiencing personality disorders.

This is a safe space for you to be open and to heal. This is a space to speak with another individual about thoughts and compulsions that often isolate and discourage. You will be accepted and not judged. This is your space.

I'll always encourage you to be honest and open with me, as much as you're willing. Trust takes time to build. If you're afraid to share, I truly want you to tell me. It can be hard to open up, especially about thoughts that seem scary or taboo. I will never judge you for what you share. Instead, I'll strive to meet you where you're at with empathy and honesty.

Kelly is truly amazing. She really listens and takes time to talk thru everything on your mind to then come up with a game plan. I’ve been going for only a few weeks and have seen such an improvement already. Forever grateful for her time and understanding.
