About

I utilize exposure and response prevention to treat OCD, working to confront and sit with those obsessions, tolerate the distress it brings, and resist any compulsive or automatic behaviors that come after. This behavioral practice comes with rooted reminders that OCD goes against who we are. I'm here to help you stay grounded in yourself and values as you do the hard work of ERP. Outside of work, I'm an avid reader (fantasy and thrillers and memoirs, oh my!) and love spending time with my book club. My spouse and I spend lots of time outside with our two dogs, playing board or video games with our best friends, and building LEGOs. Is coffee involved? I'll be there.

I first and foremost care about establishing a therapeutic bond that is safe, shameless, and lasting. That relationship is the most change-inducing part of therapy. I love celebrating you!

Get to know Cassie Samuelson

I grew up knowing I wanted to be in the helping field. In adulthood, I discovered the importance and impact of one-on-one relationships, like the one we establish in therapy. When I had the chance to experience therapy and begin my own mental health work and OCD healing journey, I became invested in the idea of working closely with folks like me, aiding their personal wellness by creating safe, shame-free spaces.

I have a passion for working with people who've lived lives like mine. In my early adulthood, I came to understand myself, identity, and existence as neurodivergent or differently abled, including my OCD diagnosis and beyond. The opportunity to be in spaces with folks who share a lived experience with OCD, and even support and help facilitate their healing, is a privilege.

I have worked with a variety of concerns and in a range of settings, including private practice and intensive outpatient programming. I largely focus on anxiety disorders, neurodivergence (e.g. autism spectrum disorder and ADHD), complex trauma, multi-cultural considerations (including 2SLGBTQIA+ and BIPOC individuals), and identity development. I'm a bit of a nerd for all things having to do with the brain.

Take a breath, my friend. This is hard work you're about to do, and we will create space for that. I imagine you're coming to NOCD thinking and feeling so many things. I want you to know that I'm ready to hear what you have to say. We will take treatment step by step, creating building blocks of wellness from bottom to top.

So much about OCD and anxiety disorders is stigmatized, shamed, and labeled as wrong. To feel nervous about sharing these thoughts in a new therapy space is so understandable. I want you to know that I'm right there with you living with OCD, and I have expertise in treating OCD and anxiety disorders. Nothing is surprising or taboo to me. If you're not ready to share, that's so OK. We'll work toward a space and relationship that fosters these conversations and that openness.
