About

I strive to approach anyone seeking my help with curiosity, empathy, and unconditional positive regard. You are the expert in your life. Taking time to understand my members puts me in the best position to provide effective support. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, watching scary movies and true crime documentaries, going to comedy shows, camping (stargazing is my favorite!), snuggling with my kitty, cooking all different kinds of cuisines, and being around any kind of body of water.

Get to know Dominique Macias

Before starting my career as a therapist, I worked in financial services for nine years. I've always enjoyed working with people and supporting them in reaching their personal goals. As I built relationships with my clients, I had the desire to do more. I began volunteering with The Women’s Resource Center in Oceanside, California, where I had the opportunity to become an advocate for those impacted by assault, take hotline calls for those in immediate need, and supervise children whose mothers were attending group therapy. It was during this volunteer experience that I started to pursue my master’s degree in marriage and family therapy. I'm someone who is passionate about learning about the human mind and the complexities of human relationships.

Before joining NOCD, I worked at an eating disorder treatment center, where I quickly realized a connection between OCD and eating disorders. Although I gained knowledge and experience with those diagnosed with OCD, I wanted to take it a step further and become certified in working with this population.

My other areas of focus include substance use, eating disorders, trauma, family systems, ADHD, body dysmorphia, depression, and anxiety. I'm passionate about helping all people gain relief from unwanted symptoms, maintain a positive level of functioning, and improve overall quality of life.

I encourage you to go into the experience with an open mind. Some elements may feel challenging, but the end goal is the relief of symptoms and an overall better quality of life.

If you're afraid to share your thoughts with me, I'd encourage you to say just that. It allows me to meet you where you are and create a non-judgmental, safe space to explore the thoughts and feelings you wouldn't normally be comfortable sharing.
